Christmas cards

Christmas Greeting from Dr Samir Ghosh of the FoRVM

Individual cards from the children we sponsor. They all seem to be making progress in their school work, with one or two not making as much progress as the others.  There seems to have been an outbreak of minor illness this year, suffered by all the children

Garden Party

On the 16th July 2011, we held a Garden Party at Prescott, where we raised £190. Although the weather was bad, we had Cream Teas and various stalls and games and at least it was a bonding day socially. We would like to thank everyone that helped. The Volunteers were fantastic and we would like to thank the Rev John Taylor, for allowing us to use his garden and facilities.

New member

I am delighted to confirm that we have another postulant for the Investiture service in November, making three in total. Carlos Kearns, an American, is a regular visitor to the UK and a personal friend of Paul Denby. I have met Carlos many times in Manchester Cathedral and he has wanted to join the Order for some time. Although he will not be a regular attendee at our events, his knowledge, experience and contacts in the business communities of England and the USA will be of great benefit to us.
If we are to hold a Commandery Investiture in May 2012, we need to have at least one postulant for admission. If you know anybody that might be interested in joining the Order, please speak to them soon, as we have to submit the forms by the beginning of December this year if we wish to complete the process in time.

Many of you will know that we support the Friends of the RV Mission (FoRVM).  They now have a web site that can be accessed from the link above.  Do have a look, you can see pictures of the children we sponsor, and many other aspects of their work that you may not be familiar with.

Welcome from Commander

To members and Friends of John of Gaunt Commandery

I am delighted that David Green has introduced yet another form of communication for the Commandery, which will enable us to publish items of interest between the traditional paper newsletters. This should be of particular interest to Friends of John of Gaunt who can now have full details of all our events.

If you have any questions about using the blog, then I am sure that David will be only pleased to try and assist - just post a question and it will be answered!
